The proposed project includes two components: the rehabilitation of the Krueger-Scott Mansion, first built in 1888 and the construction of new mixed-use development on the grounds where once the stables and gardens existed.
The mansion is a 40 room, three story brick late 19th century building with a five-story circular tower. The program calls for a 5,000 sf. co-working space on the ground floor that would cater to local entrepreneurs. Technical assistance, micro loans and business classes and events are all part of the mission to encourage and support self-employment. It will be called The Newark Center for Entrepreneurs.
On vacant land at the rear of the Mansion the program calls for the construction of 66 apartments along with 16 small workshops where small scale manufacturing is permitted.
The project is planned to be complete in 2020.
